BMI in Adults

Adults can estimate using their BMI using the chart below, or by using our BMI Calculator. Children and Infants should use the charts further down on the page.

BMI in Adolescents

While BMI is calculated the same way for children as it is for adults, the number is used differently. When considering a child's BMI, it is important to compare the BMI to that of other children of the same sex and age.

A BMI that is less than the 5th percentile is considered underweight and above the 95th percentile is considered obese. Children with a BMI between the 85th and 95th percentile are considered to be overweight.

Boys, age 2-20
